I’m Coming Out

Posted by Deutlich on February 18th, 2009 | Filed under: Uncategorized

No, I’m not coming out of the closet. I already blogged about my disinterest in being labeled as straight or bisexual. Sometimes I just happen to like sexy time with girls.

Is that so bad?

What I am doing is showing my face. I’m not sure why I’ve held on so tight to my “anonymity.” I mean, at this point if you’re facebook friends with any of the bloggers I’ve met in the last year – there’s a fairly distinct chance you already DO know what the hell I look like.

My biggest fear to date has been that someone would figure out where I work, email my coworkers and then “out” me. Just typing that has my heart racing because what happens if I just gave somebody an idea?! What if one of you hates me that badly that they’d stoop to such levels?

Then I remembered that, hey, I don’t blog about work. In fact, I will never blog about work. Maybe a situation here or there, but nothing that gives a definitive idea of what I do or where I make my money. I have no interest in being Dooced. More importantly, the folks I work with already know that I blog. Only three know where, but I haven’t been secretive about the act itself.

I don’t do secrets.

Besides, if you are reading this blog, there is a 95% chance that you own a blog too. And you wouldn’t want someone doing that shit to you, right? Right.

Mayhaps I’ll regret this decision tomorrow and delete the post all together. Maybe this turns out to be a much smaller deal than I’m making it out to be. Or perhaps in a few months when I’ve forgotten all about posting this particular blog, my boss will come to my cubie with a print out of the things I’ve said here in my corner of the web.

Dear gods-that-I-don’t-believe-in,

Please, please, please do not let my boss come to me with any of this because I will have the worst panic attack of my life.

Also, if you could just get rid of all web tracking software – that would be killer.

Much love,

Deutlich

Anyhoodle. Enough with the talking. Uhh… I mean writing.

MyBirthday1

This was taken at my 27th birthday party in December. We went bowling. I wore the dress anyway.

MyBirthday2

This is me fucking with Jack. Just because I can.

MyEyeball

That’s my eyeball…just in case you couldn’t tell. This is a gratuitous shot of my eye make up. Because I’m vain (but not really).

MyBirthday3

And that’s my super fantastical mom and brother. I think their expressions speak volumes. My mom would freak out if she knew I’d posted a picture of her on my blog. Don’t tell her.

    I wont tell her.

Even though I LOVE that picture of your mom :-)

    I appreciate your candidness.

  2. 2 Ben Says:

I’ve seen you before but I must say that I love your smile :)

    Awww..you’re sweet. And thank you.

  3. 3 Jack Says:

Aha! So that’s why so many posts about eye makeup were showing up in my Google Reader shared items.

Totally. I LOOOOVE eye make up. It’s a bit ridiculous.

  4. 4 Dutchess of Kickball Says:

    Well hello there!

    Hi!!!!

  5. 5 ria Says:

you’re beautiful nice to see you :)

well aren’t you just a sweetheart. And thank you!

  6. 6 Arielle Says:

Before you even said it I was thinking “I’ve already seen so many pictures of her on facebook.” Hahah. Well hopefully you feel like you’re getting something off your chest and not that you’re increasing your chances of blogging coming back to bite you in the ass.

Where the hell can you be found on FB?! AND, yeesss..I hope this won’t come back to bite me in the ass either. That would fucking suck.

  7. 7 Laurie | Your Ill-fitting Overcoat Says:

You are one hot lady (as is your mama) and this new blog look you’ve got going? It’s killer. Sorry I’ve been buried in my reader for a century and a half.

Aww, you’re such a sweetheart. And good grief I understand the google reader problem. I have to kill that number daily or I break out in hives.

  8. 8 Essentially Me Says:

    Beautiful girl and beautiful family!

Oh and heart the eye makeup big time!

    Well, thank you! Big time!

  9. 9 Travis Says:

Forgive me for using out-dated SNL catchphrases, but you look marvelous!

I wouldn’t have known it was outdated SNL catchphrases but thank you none the less!

  10. 10 Angela Says:

I wish wish WISH I could do my eye makeup like that!!

They have tutorials all over youtube! The biggest tip I can give is blend, blend, blend. Nobody likes choppy eyshadow. Blech.

  11. 11 Andy Says:

I must say it is a pretty big step!!

Though really, if someone does that to you, I’ll go beat her (yes, because only women can take hating that far) until she regrets it.

    PS. You’re GORGEOUS woman!!

Of COURSE it would end up being a chick. So here’s to me keeping my fingers and toes crossed. And seriously? Thank you… although now i’m blushing. A lot.

  12. 12 dmb5_libra Says:

i know where you live! (heavy breathing)

you crack me the fuck up. oh – and LIKEWISE, missy :p

  13. 13 BIBI Says:

You are just as I imagined, but only more beautiful. You have a beautiful smile. Your mom and bro are gorgeous as well. The eye makeup is a killer. Where did you learn to do that?!? I am such a klutz when it comes to applying anything on my face besides soap. Love ya girl. You certainly got it going on! :^)

I reealllyy don’t take compliments well but I thank you none the less. And I DO agree about my mom and bro, though. :-D As for the eye make up, I was shown by a professional what looks best on my eyes, as far as shaping and contrast, and I apply the same theory to just about all colors that I use. I also worked in the cosmetics dept for many years during the Holidays..and then copied what I saw and liked.

  14. 14 Liebchen Says:

    I’m totally telling your mom.

Also, will you do my eye makeup next time we go out? I promise not to cry and ruin it! :-)

I can definitely try my best. Sometimes, I’m no good at doing other people’s eyes because their eyelids and brows are so different from mine.

  15. 15 Kyla Bea Says:

So beautiful. I wish I was as brave as you!!

And the pictures are gorgeous – amazing make up! My gosh!

You’re too kind. thank you! And from what I can tell – you’re gorgeous.

  16. 16 Malnurtured Snay Says:

As nice as these photos are, you’re still better looking in person.

You know juuust what to say to make this chick smile (and blush). Thank you.

  17. 17 Lauren Says:

Your eye makeup is amazing… PLEEEEEAAAASE teach me!

I will do my aaaabsolute best! But I gotta be honest – I suck at doing other people’s eyes. :(

  18. 18 Jossie Posie Says:

Your eye makeup is super ferocious…and you are so cute! I love your curls :-)

    Woo! Thaaanks.

  19. 19 Akilah Sakai Says:

    You’re a hot piece of ass! ;)

I will definitely have to say it, even though it’s been said. Your eye makeup was fierce! Damn girl!

    Well, I’s appreciate that!

  20. 20 Jessica Says:

I really love that dress on you. M-E-O-W. Your makeup is fierce too.

    Heee…well thank you much, Jess.

  21. 21 Rachel M. Says:

Okay, I have figured out that as payment for me allowing you to sleep at my house you shall do my eye makeup for the 20sb events. Seriously.

I’m quite all right with this plan. I just hope I don’t make your eyes look crrraaazzyy.. *fingers crossed*

  22. 22 Amanda Says:

I started out non-anonymous, so now I feel like I can never go undercover; besides, creating an anonymous blog that the people close to me don’t know about would cut my readership to say…5! At the same time, I feel very limited when I want to talk about certain events (esp love stuff). Sux either way. HOWEVER, I feel more interested in bloggers when I can put a picture with the face.

So speaking of THAT, you are beautiful. (And I feel unoriginal, b/c that’s what I thought, and now I see everyone else has said so here, too. Must mean it’s true.) Congrats on this brave step out of visual anonymity.

Awww.. I <3 you. And that is something I feel too – that I tend to be more interested when know what the eff they look like. Not ALWAYS, but mostly. If someone writes REALLY well then it trumps their anonymity, you know? And I’m sorry that you feel limited. I’m gonna stick w/my fake name … just because that makes me less squeamish. I’m hoping this doesn’t stop me from being as honest as I have — but I somehow doubt it.

  23. 23 belle Says:

You will now be known as The Fierce Family because you’re all hot. And I love that eye makeup, I’d look like my 5 year old niece painted my face if I tried that.

But 5 year olds have talent too… it could be a statement!

  24. 24 Lacey Bean Says:

    Woo woo sexy mama!!! :)

    Aww, thanks. ;)

  25. 25 alexa - cleveland's a plum Says:

girl you look HOT. scratch that you look HOTT.

    yes, with two T’s.

i’m glad you did this, don’t you feel relief now??

I do! I do! I do! Well, relief sprinkled with a bit of trepidation. That’s what I get for being too fucking open in this blog. We’ll see.

  26. 26 Jaime Says:

    You have such sweet smile!!!

    thank you, darling

  27. 27 DocE Says:

You’re a hawtie! And… I’m in lust with your eye makeup… I thought I was the only person who took pictures of my super-awesome eye-makeup days, clearly I am not and that ROCKS.

that is fantastical that you take pix like that too…mainly because now I don’t feel QUITE so vain. hahaha

  28. 28 Drew Says:

Welcome to the out club. :) Your secrets are still safe.

I sure hope that they are! And thanks!

  29. 29 Marie Says:

You are gorgeous! And I mean that in the most straight way possible.

By the way, LOVE the eye makeup. If I ever tried to apply what you have on…well let’s just say I would make babies cry.

Sometimes babies just need to cry

  30. 30 susan Says:

Nice to see you! Your pictures are so fun, you are beautiful and you are an artist with that eye makeup, wow. Seriously, how did you do that?

YEARS of practice. I was shown by someone who worked in cosmetics how to contour my eyes and apply different shades to my eyelid.. and I’ve been mimicking the process since then with every color imaginable — AND I watch a ton of tutorials and read make up blogs…

  31. 31 Erica Says:

You are hot stuff. And I have to chime in with the admiration of the makeup skills! When I try to do that it’s like a drunk five year old attacked my face with crayons.

And now I’m reading other comments and seeing that other people have written pretty much the exact same thing…ah well!

crayons can be good! we all gotta start somewhere. I used to look like I got punched in the face….

  32. 32 Froggy Says:

a.) I love that your gchat status alerts me when I need to come check your blog

    b.) Killer eyeshadow!!

    c.) Lookin’ good lady! Lookin’ gooood… ;)

    1) I love that you even READ my gchat alerts
    2) Thanks!!
    3) Triple thaaanks!!

  33. 33 andhari Says:

You’re hotttttttttttttt, you shouldn’t go anon in the first place :P . Well I guess you had your reasons but I’m so glad you finally coming out.

Aw, well thank you. My main reason was me being a big SCAREDY CAT

  34. 34 SA Says:

Am I weird if I first noticed the glasses? Love them. As do the dress and eye makeup and the necklace.

Aww re: pic with the fams. Your brother’s expression is cracking me up.

Not weird at all. I always notice the glasses too because I am SUCH a fan of them. And the bro? Best bro eva.

  35. 35 Cavy Says:

that is an amazing dress and i would have done the same thing. they should make bowling heels.

I’d bet I’d fall in those

  36. 36 Meghan Says:

    You are Stunning and Vivacious!Rrrrawr.

The dress and the eyemakeup aren’t bad either ;)

    haahahaha. thankyas!

  37. 37 elle Says:

teach me how to do eye-makeup like that!

    also, KICKASS dress. i want.

I can try my best? But I definitely recommend checking out youtube tutorials for your eye shape

  38. 38 AndyHannon Says:

I think you can rest assured that if anyone messed with you because you blog, you’d have a very angry mob of geeks grabbing their pitchforks (I’m more of a torch guy myself)

    :)

Aw. Well thank you – I still worry though. Maybe unnecessarily. But I worry none the less.

  39. 39 Sarahahaha Says:

Your eye makeup is amazing. It reminds me of the Hello Kitty for MAC makeup that I’m currently obsessed with. I promise not to tell your mother about the picture (:

I ALMOST went and got the Hello Kitty make up except the majority of it resembles what I already own. Meh.

  40. 40 Kat Argonza Says:

I do love the fact that your eyes match your dress! Very, Very nice.

I do appreciate that. :) Thaaank you

  41. 41 Jenn Says:

I love that you’re wearing a tiara in the last picture! You’re smokin’ hot, lady.

I miss that thing! I left it in my friend’s car who lives in VA Beach… so it’s about 3 hours south of me.

  42. 42 Jacqueline @ Miss Musing Says:

You are beautiful! I started out anonymously as well, and then one day I woke up decided I felt like putting my picture out there. It was freeing in a way. Thanks for sharing!

It really is very freeing. I like it. So far.

  43. 43 Matt Says:

    Very cute!

    thanks!

  44. 44 Lemmonex Says:

Your make up is amazing in that photo but you knew I would say that.

I <3 you. But you knew I’d say that.

  45. 45 kat Says:

  47. 47 Zandria Says:

Yay for coming out! See, it wasn’t so bad, right? :)

You know? It really wasn’t.. not yet anyway.

  48. 48 Viviane Says:

You’re really beautiful. And I won’t spill your secrets, I still don’t know your name! Haha.
And like about everyone else, I envy you for your mad makeup skills!

    Thanks for keeping mum ;)

  49. 49 La Petite Chic Says:

I’m one of the lucky ones who has met you in person :) And who says you can’t go bowling in a hot dress anyway?

Nobody – and if somebody does..well..screw ‘em!

  50. 50 LiLu Says:

Hooray for being OUT!!! Big ups, lady.

    Thanks, love!

  51. 51 poodlegoose Says:

Holy wow, your eye makeup is amazing. I wish I could do that (or be courageous enough to wear it out), but Asian eyes seem to confuse this Asian a bit. I’ll learn one day :)

And I believe that I saw a picture of you before you moved over before you took the link down. Lovely dress, by the way!

One of the make up blogs I read ALL the time is written by an Asian girl! You should google NecessaryMakeup (it’s a blogspot)

  52. 52 Michelle & the City Says:

i’m glad you finally “came out”, but i knew you were gorgeous already! :)

MICHELLLLLEEEEE!!!! I MISS YOUR BLOG! *ahem* Come bbbbbbbbbaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!

  53. 53 Fabulously Broke Says:

I am too stunned by your makeup. WOW. I am so freaking impressed right now (and by your beauty of course)

    Aww, well thank you darling!

  54. 54 brookem Says:

woo! yay for coming out. i heart you and your sexy dress and eyemakeup (did you do that yourself?!)

    I totally did!

  55. 55 Chris Says:

    nice tiara!

    thanks! ;)

  56. 56 verybadcat Says:

    Dear Deutlich,

I already knew this from the aforementioned Facebook, but I had not told you yet.

    You are hot.

    That is all.

    xoxo

    You’re making me blush!

  57. 57 freckledk Says:

That eye looks killer. Do you do makeovers?

I suck at makeovers. Go fig.

  58. 58 Lindz Says:

YOU ARE HOT! I completely forgot that you haven’t shown your face on here before… isn’t it kind of scary and exhilarating all at the same time? Good for you!

It is TOTALLY scary AND exhilerating

  59. 59 SM Says:

I’m sure other people have said this (but I didn’t read other comments yet) but I LOVE the eye makeup. What do you use (brandwise and tools-wise) and what’s your technique? I am an eye makeup whore (I always have to have some kind of eyeliner and mascara on) and love getting tips from other people who are obviously good with the eye makeup.

    Also, you? Very gorgeous!

I used a combo of MAC, Lancome and CG with my Lancome liquid foundation as a base. As for tools? I have 10 different eye shadow brushes – bigger ones for sweeping across the brow, smaller ones for the crease and normal ones for the rest… and then I do a crap ton of blending.

  60. 60 SoMi's Nilsa Says:

I wanna join the coming out party! How exciting. You’re beautiful and seem to relish life! I think you should rest easy. You do blogging right. What boss wouldn’t be proud of you even if they were to find out?!

Eh, I can’t really imagine my boss being “proud” of any of this. But I see what you’re sayin. Let’s hope that keeping my blog name one thing, and my real name a whole other, keeps shit in check. I figure if nobody work related that googles my name can find my blog – things are probably all right.

    Or at least I hope.

  61. 61 Lily Says:

That is some gorgeous eye makeup! And that dress is absolutely stunning!

    Well, thanks Lily!

  62. 62 CapriceClassic Says:

Well, you’re nothing like I imagined, but you’re very attractive. Not that I imagined you as ugly, lol, but I didn’t picture the glasses, and for some reason, I thought your hair would be straight. *shrugs* Well, anyway, thank you so much for putting a face to a name. I can now forgive you for the Backstreet Boys. : )

I find it kind of amusing that I wasn’t what you imagined. I do that with some folks too.. But straight hair?! Hahaha. That’s the kicker.

  63. 63 Random Musings Says:

Ohh sexy lady!! I hope that is the killer dress you were talking about!!

Weehoo about coming out! Good for you

    It IS the dress!!!

  64. 64 Tara Says:

you should have came out sooner, fun and expressive photos and i’m jealous of the eye makeup! I only have cool designs like that when my friend Stef is in town and she applies it for me :)

    That’s why friends are fantastic

  65. 65 nicoleantoinette Says:

Sometimes I forget you were anonymous because we’ve been friends on Facebook for so long, ha.

Ha! Gotta love FB. And ya know? I think you were the first (or at least one of the first) bloggers I friended on FB.

  66. 66 Z Says:

Why, hello there hottie! :) You look fabulous, and I love the eyes!!!

    Thanks hon!

  67. 67 Bogart Says:

    Well, how does it feel?

    Naked? Maybe you like that.
    Nervous? Don’t be.

What am I saying…I use the name Bogart.

It’s still odd. And I’m gonna stick with Deutlich. Makes me happy.

  68. 68 bethie Says:

That is gorgeous eye makeup. Congrats on being “out!”

    Thanks, dear!

  69. 69 fizzgig Says:

ohhhhhhhhh fun, I love your dress! And you are Very pretty!!!

    Well thank you dear!

  70. 70 Justin (Oats) Says:

Bowling in a dress is priceless :)

I really like your glasses… they work very well with your facial structure. Glasses are awesome!

That last picture is just awesome. The expression on you mom’s face is indescribably hilarious, and your brother just looks classic mischievous. I love it. :)

(P.S. thanks for the wonderful comment!)

    You’re very welcome, dear

  71. 71 Joy @ Big Time Fancy Says:

One day, I hope to make a post this brave.

I can totally understand holding on to the anonymity.

  72. 72 Kelly Says:

Hey pretty lady! :) I just started reading, but now I totally know who you are! :)

Well, welcome to my neck of the interweb woods. :)

  73. 73 Mermanda Says:

OH! So that’s what you look like! ;)

Pretty pretty. I love your eyemake-up skillz. Totally hot.

    Aw, thanks doll!!!

  74. 74 emily Says:

ahhh. i love it!! while there is something to be said for preserving a grain of anonymity whilst blogging, i’ve always thought that putting a name with the face made it all the more real. congrats on “coming out” and btw you’re gorgeous.

and so is your eye makeup! ;]

yeah, to an extent I felt a lil’ like I was somehow being “dishonest” or “ingenuine” or something

  75. 75 lfar Says:

I am having trouble posting comments so my initial attempt was way more excited but now I’m just frustrated with my computer.

But HOORAY! And I’m so proud of you! Coming out is huge! Welcome to non-anonymity, girl!

I HATE when that happens! And thank you!!!

  76. 76 Sara Says:

I was never anonymous…everyone knows everything about me! It’s not so bad really…you’ll get used to it. Good luck!

    Eh.. we’ll see. But thanks!

  77. 77 Bindu Says:

Your dress and your elaborate eye make up is to kill for! And ‘coming out’ with it is most relieving. (Pat pat)
    B

    Well thanks!

  78. 78 Eb Says:

love love love love love the eye make-up

    Hahaha. That’s awesome and thaaaanks!

  79. 79 Beth Says:

    1) Rock that tiaraaaaa!
    2) Damn all you bloggers with big boobs… I WANT SOME!! NOOO FAIIIRRRR!!!!
    3) You are hot and have good fashions.

You can’t have mine, though. I’m really attached to them. (my boobs, that is)

  80. 80 Hadassah Says:

I am still in the training for putting on Eye Make Up! I love yours!

Youtube tutorials are stellar. I don’t really use them because I have NO attention span but from what I gather they’re fantastic

  81. 81 amber Says:

Wow. If I had eye-makeup that spectacular I’d post photos, too. Did you do it yourself? I only ask because whenever I have a big event (such as my 27th birthday, which was also in Dec) I sneak to the nearest makeup counter and buy something so they’ll give me a free makeover. Works every time.

I have control issues and I don’t like random (read: weird) people touching my face. So I definitely do all my own make up.

  82. 82 mspuddin Says:

Yessssssss.be out! lol hot stuff, not only did you wear a dress bowling but you wore a tiara.awesome.love it.I had a tiara on my bday too.ahhh so vain are we…anyway, happy extra belated..;p

    MsP

  83. 83 Passionista Says:

OMG you’re so pretty! I have been contemplating “outing” myself as well. Still thinking about it.

  84. 84 Crista Says:

beautiful beautiful eye makeup! and beautiful eyes.
