An Inflated Ego
Posted by Deutlich on September 23rd, 2008 | Filed under: UncategorizedI like to think that I’m always right. Actually, that’s a lie. I know I’m not always right, but I do feel very strongly about the things that make me tick.
World politics.
Proper health care.
The TWO wars we’re in.
Proper health care.
Women’s rights.
Proper health care.
Small business.
Proper health care…
I think you get the picture. For that matter, if you’ve been around my corner of the woods for a bit then you’re already aware of this without me outlining it.
What I’m really trying to get at is that the majority of my recent posts have been uber heavy. I’m not sure why or how, but it’s what I was feeling and wanted to express.
The problem is that when I start to get on my high horse, it snowballs. I still have all these opinions and beliefs and thoughts about everything from animal rights to oil drilling. Yet, I find myself inable to really discuss it. Either work’s been busy or I’ve been too exhausted or I just haven’t felt like “giving it my all.”
Then I start to think about the ego. Who am I, in the grand scheme of things, to say something one way or the other?
Just another blogger.
I guess that’s why we all do what we do, huh? So we can have an even playing field upon which we spew all of our angsty thoughts.
I’ve seen a lot of things in my short time on this earth. Things ranging from a 7 year old child selling drug to the remnants of two smoldering buildings and a chunk of the pentagon, the last resting place of over 3,000 people.
I guess what I’m trying to say is that I go through a rollercoaster of thoughts. They’re up, they’re down, they’re sideways and everywhere in between. Sometimes I want to share. Other times I’m just too exhausted by it all to bother.

do you want proper health care? ; )
at the end of the day we are all just bloggers but it’s our party and we will write if we want to!
don’t feel obligated. when a blogger starts to feel obligated to write then thats when it can go sour

You’re probably always right. I say that only because I agree with you on these top issues and I’m pretty much always right.
September 23rd, 2008 at 10:10 am
I stumbled on your blog (can’t even recall how) and I’m glad I did. I love the way you write and I echo many of your opinions. I understand the whole exhaustion thing… so get some sleep so you can post some more
September 23rd, 2008 at 10:37 am
What’s the point of having an opinion if you don’t believe it’s right??
Go ‘head girl, I love everything you do.
September 23rd, 2008 at 10:46 am
Just another blogger my ass.
Keep up the good work.
September 23rd, 2008 at 10:57 am
Ditto narm.
Love what you write. You have depth, my dear. And I love that.
September 23rd, 2008 at 12:03 pm
In a way, I sometimes put my opinions out there hoping that someone would challenge it…
weird.
September 23rd, 2008 at 12:27 pm
Matt I do that sometimes too. Or I will argue something I don’t agree with just to have someone challenge me. But sometimes I wonder if it matters what I think. But then I take comfort in the fact that it is not about me thinking I am right but rather other people thinking that I am right.
September 23rd, 2008 at 12:47 pm
personal opinion: you’re pretty much always right.
i generally agree with what you write, heavy posts and all.
September 23rd, 2008 at 12:49 pm
You are not just any blogger… you are a BADASS blogger. That is my new word by the way. Badass! I love it for some reason. It’s badass! Anyway I hear what you’re sayin’. But I think all of us here appreciate your opinion. It’s badass!
September 23rd, 2008 at 1:25 pm
Uh, I know exactly what you’re saying.
September 23rd, 2008 at 1:46 pm
I’d love to hear your thoughts on health care. . .
Just kidding.
I think that is the great thing about blogging…it’s an open forum to say whatever we please. Sometimes it’s a powerful opinion that generates thoughtful discussion and sometimes it’s just a fun place to trade recipes and anecdotes!
September 23rd, 2008 at 2:04 pm
I know what you mean– when I start talking about one topic that I feel passionate about it all comes out.
And then I’m all worked up.
And then I can’t calm down for quite a while.
Needless to say I try to avoid it.
September 23rd, 2008 at 2:25 pm
your rants and posts are always awesome. so hey i say keep it up.
September 23rd, 2008 at 2:49 pm
That just makes you human. You are a product of your experiences and lucky for us you also blog about it! Totally reminds me of that Twix commercial where the guy invites the strong minded girl to his apartment and recovers with “I thought you were a believer, someone who wants to blog about our ideals.” To which she replies “I love blogging!” LOL
September 23rd, 2008 at 4:36 pm
I got stuck on the seven year old selling drugs bit. How tragic is that?
P.S. I love that you are opinionated and not afraid to share it!
September 23rd, 2008 at 6:01 pm
Well, I must say, my favorite part of this blog is the fact you’re opinionated and not afraid to be so!
At the end of the day, each one of us is free to read what he/she wants. You’re not FORCED to read something. YOu read it, because you agreed to.
So, don’t feel bad because you have an opinion, because most of us like you for it!
September 23rd, 2008 at 7:26 pm
i get SO WORKED UP about certain issues. many of which are on your list
but i find it exhausting and disheartening to get in arguments about it, mostly because it’s so upsetting to me that people feel as strongly as i do.. but for the other side. and when it’s something like equal rights…. JESUS H CHRIST ON A STICK, i can’t deal with hearing how passionate people are about, say, not letting gay people get married. it’s so upsetting to me that half the time i just try not to talk about it.
the other half of the time, i’m out there shouting my opinions because i’ll be damned if my silence contributes to 4 more years of this fucking bullshit.

Deutlich-you’re not just another blogger, do you know how many bloggers are complete crap “like omgz, i likez totally went to the mall today and like, ryan was tehre and he was like, totally into me” and crap?
Thank god you actually think. Don’t apologize for it.

exhausted? damn right.
September 24th, 2008 at 11:43 am
I hear you… yep. There’s a reason I keep my blog light n’airy (except for the rants), cuz those other things just drag me down.
Blogging vs real life, so to speak.
Cheer up, goth! This is your zone to do what you want in, so go for it
September 24th, 2008 at 2:47 pm
I’ll second the healthcare thing! I can finally afford it and after 3 years of clinics…..i cannot wait! it’s awful that because you cant afford it you have to be treated second class. at least…thats been my experience!
September 24th, 2008 at 3:14 pm
I’m totally hearing you. It’s hard not to write about this stuff, I also feel that I’m completely correct in my opinions. But as I re-read that sentence, it doesn’t actually make sense. But who could be against proper health care? My bosses, that’s who.
September 24th, 2008 at 3:45 pm
As always it’s your blog, write about what affects you, what moves you, whatever is important to you. Health care is a biggie for me too.
September 24th, 2008 at 3:47 pm
Well I am glad you blog…. For what it is worth sometimes you just need to step away…
Being Canadian and coming from a socialized medicine background and having broken my neck (literally) in the us I could argue the health care issue as well..
September 24th, 2008 at 11:19 pm
I try not to argue with people about things like politics. Because my style of arguing is to remain calm, mellow, and logical the entire time. For some people this gets them more and more riled up because they think I’m insulting them, when I’m not.
September 25th, 2008 at 1:43 am
I know what you mean– sometimes, you don’t want to have a well thought our argument. You just want to be able to say it.
September 25th, 2008 at 9:57 am
Hey, I’m with Maris and not kidding… I love hearing people’s thoughts on health care (call that an occupational hazard for me), especially when they have stuff to say about what to do about it, not just rant that all is bad and someone should fix it. You always have very articulated and well-though-out opinions, I’d love to hear what you have to say on that topic.
September 25th, 2008 at 6:43 pm
I thought that being bloggers meant that we actually do know it all.
No?
