Jealousy
Posted by Deutlich on April 18th, 2008 | Filed under: UncategorizedWhat a lovely little emotion, this thing we call jealousy. Much like most things, we can perceive it to be either good or bad.
It’s a little like ambition. On the one side, it can tweak us just in the right manner to improve upon ourselves. On the other, it can drive us (and everyone in vicinity) absolutely bananas.
There was an incredibly long portion of time where I would allow myself to wallow in jealous rage. I was young. I was dumb. I was immature.
Okay, so sometimes I’m still immature but that’s a whole other story.
Anyway.
While I was still fully enveloped in all things related to the Backstreet Boys (yes, I was that chick), I would hear all these stories about friends getting to drink with them, hang out, play pool, get back stage, and all sorts of shit that a zealous fan would, well, be jealous of.
Eventually, it was my turn to have these kinds of stories. I met them a plethora of times. I got to drink with a few of them. I was given backstage access and even interviewed one for a radio station. After being a fan for so long, I came to know quite a few people and I guess I just got lucky. It certainly helped that the head of security remembered me after ALL of those years and turned out to be pretty damn cool. The Backstreet Camp is really good to their fans.
It was when this began to happen that I figured, all right, that whole jealous thing? Not cute. If there was anything I wanted to learn it was that all good things come to those who wait. I also realized that without being able to predict the future, I could never assume one way or the other.
It was just a stupid thing to do, getting all angsty and bent out of shape because someone else had something I didn’t.
What was so wrong with just being happy for people?
So, I changed my attitude and with that came a whole new world of calm and good natured feelings.
In other words, the hippie in me started to emerge full force.
But here’s the thing.
I’m only human. While I’m proud to say I don’t give two shits if someone has a shiney new Bentley or a sparkly diamond tennis bracelet (I technically hate diamonds anyway) , I still have moments when I want to spork people’s eyes out.
And by people, I really just mean bitches who have the attention of someone I’m interested in.
I know. I know. It’s LAME. But dammit, it ticks me off.

OK, just curious, who on earth did you end up hanging with them a lot? Like how does that happen?
Also, jealous is super dangerous. That is why it is referred to as the green eyed monster Makes you do crazy things.

I think jealousy is completely normal and natural. I get insanely jealous when good things happen to my friends and even though I’m happy for them at the same time, I kind of hate them a little, too. And it’s terrible, but sometimes I rejoice in my head when those good things are taken away from them. You kind of can’t help it.

Jealousy is a sneaky little bastard. Just when you think you have outgrown it, it slinks back in on you. (Even if you are more than a decade too old to even try to pass it off as a little endearing.)

Hah spork. Stupid jealousy, can’t get away from it completely. Recently this illustrator sent me her website out of the blue, never talked to her before, and it was like everything I have on my site only 50times better. Oh I was/am so mad, she’s rubbing it in my face! Now I’m going to have to up my game.

The only time I find myself noticeable jealous over anything is when there are other chicks digging someone I’m interesting as well. I wanna be like, “fall back, bitch!”
Of course I can’t, though, the man isn’t mine yet. haha.

Jealousy is only natural. It is hard to turn off completely. As long as you are not really sporking peoples eye’s out (LOL!), I think you’ll be fine. I was actually going to write a similar post last week. I had a little bought with the green eyed monster myself. But it passed and I decided not to dwell on it. It happens to the best of us!

I love how you say you ‘technically’ hate diamonds.
So, here’s my two cents, I think that it is a sick part of human nature to be jealous. I think we’re all born with it. With maturity comes the instinct to not be a huge brat and to instead be happy for people.
But, like mostly, I am totally jealous of everyone for everything. I just tell them to their face now that I’m jealous instead of stewing in my own hatred.

However I get insanely jealous of other women who have the boobs I don’t have, the perfect skin and teeth I don’t have, the perfect legs, etc… and don’t they dare get within a mile of my man or I will rip their perfect mascaraed eyes out!!

Today I got jealous of this random guy who was standing in front of me in the cafeteria line. Today was prime rib. The asshole in front of me got a huge piece. I asked the lady if she could cut me another piece, a bigger piece and was denied.
What does he have that I dont? I hope that bastard gets fat. But usually, Im not a jealous person.

I never thought I was a jealous person before.
Then I got really drunk and watched my guy (yes, Alabama) flirt with another girl in front of me.

I also wanted to say that i really enjoyed the VT “Stack” tribute.. I too wrote an entry about VT *my cuzzins* graduated there.. right after it happened
I think it is a GOOD entry because I did NOT write it.. it was in THEIR words after they were moved to re-visit the campus after that tragedy.. and even provided picture links to a flickR acct they posted of their visit.. the memorials and such

How odd, but so relieving – I’ve been thinking about this the past week and you come ut and say it!
There’s a guy in work who likes me apparently, and I began to like him (he’s 19, so adorable), and I think I have a bit of a crush on him. Now okay, I’m officially taken, but I still get jealous when someone else is near this guy.
Or I just THINK of someone else near this guy.
It’s a horrible feeling. I don’t like it one bit, especially since I’m not single.
At first I thought I was messed up, but then remembered that it happens – we’re all human. And I’m just going to have to deal with it.

I almost got into an argument with Superman over this; he claims he never gets jealous. I maintain that is IMPOSSIBLE. He said it was an unattractive emotion. I said… PTTTHHBTBT!!
Everyone gets jealous, it is a factoid of life. Sometimes its good, sometimes its bad.
Personally, I like it. Is that wrong?
